ABOUT ME

Born and raised in Camarillo, California to my amazing parents, Judy and Steve Kuge, I grew up an only child who first learned to walk and talk while my parents served others in our small sushi restaurant. My passion for medicine began early, as I witnessed my mother suffering unbearable pain from complications after her complete hysterectomy. Seeing the physicians in the Emergency Department tend to my mom in an efficient and calm manner initially sparked my interest in pursuing medicine.

I completed my Bachelors of Science degree in Cellular and Developmental Biology at the University of California, Santa Barbara (Go Gauchos!) in 2016, and soon began working as an Emergency Medicine scribe at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura, California. As a scribe, I was able to watch as the physicians actively saved patient's lives, provided care for the underserved community, and stayed humble and calm despite the chaos of the Emergency Department. I recognized that in the ED, a widespread knowledge of many specialties was needed to treat the patients, something which fascinated me. I also realized that while primary care physicians are in great need, I personally prosper in the high-paced, active environment of the emergency department. Over the last four years, I have cultivated my desire to become an Emergency Medicine Physician, and have carried this aspiration with me until today. Now in my fourth and final year as an osteopathic medical student on the Colorado campus of Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine, I could not be more excited to see where my journey will take me next! Thank you for taking the time to visit my page!

Clayton Kershaw, #22, is my absolute favorite Dodger, and has been since his MLB debut with the Dodgers in 2008.

My fiance, Michael, and I love going to Los Angeles Dodger games whenever we can! (just kidding, it's more like I drag him with me at all costs. :P )

A couple of my last days as an Emergency Medical Scribe. Dr. Canby and some of the nurses indulged me in getting a funny picture for my memory box.

This is our Daily Specials board at my parents' restaurant. My mom appoints me as our official "board artist" whenever the seasons change. Here's my drawing of lucky Red Snappers  for the New Year 2019!

I am completely obsessed with my cat, Moo. Never pegged myself for a feline person until I met her.

One of the happiest days of my life, at the Happiest Place on Earth

Singing is one of my favorite pasttimes. This photo was taken with one of my best friends, Christina. We sang Bruno Mars' 'Count on Me' together for our choir performance solo.

Met this little guy during my once-in-a-lifetime trip to Nepal! He was very patient with me and even let me take him for a ride.

I started practicing TaeKwonDo when I was 4 years old. Though I'm on a hiatus right now, after 13 years of consistent practice split between two studios, I earned my 3rd Degree
Black Belt.
Did I also mention I have 7 years of Hapkido training as well? :)

One of my dad's many beautiful sushi platters over the years. I've been blessed to grow up surrounded by seafood and fish. My dad's the best sushi chef in the world!!!

I started to Bullet Journal after I graduated from UCSB. It's allowed me the creative freedom to draw and develop themes and spreads for each month.

I'm such a foodie. I love trying new cuisines and going to new restaurants around town. This was delicious Thai Tea from a local restaurant in Thousand Oaks, CA

This is my best friend, Jess. We're cousins by blood, but sisters at heart. I don't know what I would be doing without her constant support and love.

I couldn't have gotten through my first year of medical school without the incredible source of encouragement, laughter, and happiness from these future female physicians and friends.
